The primary work location for this position can be based in Farnham or Sherbrooke, QC.PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:Our dynamic Signals and Communications (S&C) team plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of trains. As an S&C Technician, you will be a key member of a high-performing team dedicated to maintaining S&C systems in alignment with established standards and regulatory requirements, ensuring the safe operation of trains throughout the territory. Your responsibilities will include diagnosing system malfunctions, performing critical repairs, and fine-tuning signal equipment to enhance reliability and uphold safety standards.POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Utilize electronic testing tools to install, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment issues
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions down to the circuit board level
  • Collaborate with vendors to arrange repairs for faulty circuit boards and components
  • Operate computers to perform diagnostics, manage software-related tasks, and extract system logs
  • Conduct testing, inspection, and repair of equipment in compliance with industry standards
  • Create comprehensive reports documenting test results and inspection findings
  • Offer technical and field support for corporate data networks and other maintenance operations
  • Adhere to railway operating rules, safety protocols, policies, and best practices
  • Develop expertise in interpreting S&C circuit drawings and standards
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • High school diploma or general equivalency
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Electronics/ Technologist training from a recognized technical college is a plus
  • Valid driver's license
  • Available to work all types of shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays in all weather conditions
  • Occasionally work away from home, frequently in remote and secluded location
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to provide clear and concise information to team members and stakeholders
  • A strong emphasis is placed on adhering to safety protocols and maintaining vigilance to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your team
