- Responsible for internal fleet across Canada;
- Ensure that fleet operations are in compliance with the National Safety Code;
- Responsible for the Purchasing, Leasing and rentals for all equipment on the road for Sofina Canada;
- Responsible for Sofina Driver Safety including: Ensuring that all Sofina drivers understand regulations, maintain current driver abstracts and valid licencing, monitor driver behavior and reporting of hours (via GPS system), and ensure drivers are trained appropriately as required;
- Responsible for the development and upkeep of our Sofina Driver Handbook;
- Manage National pricing vendor agreements as related to temporary rentals for trailers and trucks. Coordinate short term rentals;
- Plan, organize and direct the procurement of vehicles Tractors, Straight Trucks, Shunt Trucks, various trailer types, and industry custom equipment;
- Negotiate national service agreements for maintenance of the fleet to ensure cost efficiencies. Develop and manage a preventative maintenance program;
- Develop fleet planning and future expenditure requirements. Develop AFE’s and gain approvals for all new capital requirements;
- Work with all Sofina locations that require fuel to identify cost savings opportunities based on fuel consumption;
- Manage general fleet management activities related to Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP), asset management, insurance, carrier profile and CVOR renewals, plate renewals and new plates;
- In collaboration with Finance, maintain asset listing on Sofina owned, leased, and rental equipment;
- Conduct annual safety audit on equipment, to ensure that equipment is maintained according to manufacturer’s specifications, applicable legislation and Company standards;
- Responsible for participating in any Government Provincial Audits;
- Additional: LCV Permits, Interprovincial Permits;
- Potential: Assist in interviewing and hiring new drivers.
- 3- 5 years of experience in a fleet supervisor or manager role;
- In-depth knowledge of National Safety Code requirements such as hours of Service, etc.;
- Knowledge of Canadian Heavy Vehicles regulations and By-Laws.
