- Establish and maintain the architectural vision and philosophy for the OpenShift platform.
- Promote consistent architecture across teams and products.
- Identify long-term challenges and develop strategic solutions.
- Act as the final technical decision-maker when needed.
- Drive cross-cutting initiatives across multiple teams and organizations.
- Partner with external organizations to ensure architectural consistency and reliability.
- Work with product management to build and maintain the product roadmap.
- Provide strategic guidance and balance timelines with business priorities.
- Set engineering-driven goals for maintainability, supportability, and reducing technical debt.
- Assist in scoping and long-term planning to align vision with business requirements.
- Coordinate release schedules, particularly around Kubernetes releases.
- Act as a role model for technical excellence and hands-on coding.
- Mentor technical leaders and engineers across the organization.
- Share technical knowledge broadly to avoid siloing.
- Drive technical succession planning and risk management.
- Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing LLMs (e.g., Google Gemini), as relevant, for tasks such as brainstorming solutions, deep research, summarizing technical documentation, drafting communications, summarizing complex technical information, and enhancing problem-solving efficiency across the development lifecycle.
- Build consensus among staff engineers and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Reinforce priorities and philosophies from engineering and product management.
- Collaborate with teams outside the OpenShift organization.
- Participate in hiring, interviewing, and staffing discussions.
- Own revert decisions across any merge into any OpenShift codebase.
- Coordinate with TRT, Test Platform, and OpenShift teams on evolution of our test automation
- Work across Software Engineers and Quality Engineers to evolve validation processes and tools
