Our client in concrete manufacturing industry is seeking a Plant Superintendent to join their team. In this key role, you'd be supporting the Dry Mix and Block departments in all areas of production and production scheduling, equipment trouble shooting, maintenance programs, inventory control, personnel management, production analysis, raw material purchasing and enforcing the plant safety program.Job Title: Plant Superintendent

Pay Range: $75k to $80k per year starting salaryWhat's the Job?
  • Production Oversight: Maintain high standards of quality across all stages of production, from origin to shipment. Operate and instruct on equipment used in dry mix and block product manufacturing
  • Performance & Inventory Management: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), order raw materials, and manage inventory of finished goods, equipment, and spare parts.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise production staff, manage schedules and timecards, and ensure adherence to collective agreements. Provide direction to lead hands and hold teams accountable to production goals.
  • Training & Development: Conduct training sessions, assess skill gaps, and ensure new employees receive proper orientation and task-specific instruction. Support performance reviews and promote employee retention.
  • Maintenance & Safety Compliance: Assist in maintenance planning and troubleshooting. Ensure compliance with company and regulatory safety standards, including coordination with the safety team.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Manage production reporting, approve employee actions in HRIS, and support month-end close and inventory processes
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with HR for recruitment and hiring, and collaborate with yard and maintenance teams to promote teamwork and operational efficiency.
  • Operational Flexibility: Fill in on equipment operations as needed and remain flexible to work various shifts and weekends. Follow company procedures for capital expenditures and cost center management.
  • Attendance & Reliability: Demonstrate consistent attendance and dependability in fulfilling responsibilities.
  • Policy & Compliance: Abide by all company policies and safety rules, contributing to a culture of accountability and excellence.
What's Needed?
  • Requires a high school education or the equivalent. BS/BA in Business or Manufacturing is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role is preferred. Production Management, Logistics Management, direct experience in the sack or concrete block industry is an asset.
  • Proven ability to coach, guide and lead subordinates.
  • Requires effective application of professional interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent understanding and knowledge of computer applications.
  • Requires excellent written and oral communication, mathematical and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic understanding of safety knowledge and Safe work practices.
  • Ability to define problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Be comfortable with lifting up to 50 lbs, standing and walking frequently.
