
Process Specialist

- Perform regular audits of shop floor processes and report findings to supervisors and mid-level management. Serious issues to be reported to QC & PM manager along with site superintendent
- Inspect product placed on hold as needed
- Identify process issues and help reduce downgraded material rates
- Attend daily production meetings
- Create weekly “hot sheets” for reviewing current quality issues with employees
- Review ITCL requirements
- Interact with shop floor employees during audits
- Investigate and resolve NCRs as needed
- Liaise with customer 3rd party inspectors
- Analyze applicable data to troubleshoot defects and improve mechanical property performance
- Lead cross-functional brainstorming sessions to solve problems or implement corrective actions
- Report on key KPIs and quality-related metrics
- Design chemistry and rolling practices to meet applicable grade and customer requirements
- Support new equipment commissioning and process changes
- Identify gaps in process measurement/validation and work to close
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field or a combination of education and related experience.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment; Experience working with Steel or Tube making considered an asset
- Good knowledge of steel processes and tubular products.
- Experience in statistical data analysis and process analysis.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; ability to learn other software applications.
- Six-sigma green belt or better qualifications, an asset.
- Ability to work effectively with hourly and management ranks.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact with individuals at various levels within the organization.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail, close observation, and concentration skills.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude.
