The successful candidate will have the following:Supervisory experience is an assetYMCA Swim Instructor, Water Safety Instructor, or Swim for Life Instructor certificationNational Lifeguard certification - Pool optionLifesaving instructor preferredNational Lifeguard Instructor and First Aid Instructor would be an assetCurrent Standard First Aid with CPR-C certificated within the last 12 months from an approved AB OHS provider. Asset if certification is issued by one of the following five Canadian organizations: Canadian Red Cross, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lifesaving Society, St John's Ambulance and/or Canadian Ski Patrol.Evidence of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector SearchThree professional referencesWhat does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?Duties and Responsibilities include;Ensure a safe and fun environment for all staff, volunteers and participantsRespond promptly to members' concerns and inform the Aquatic Centre Manager of unresolved issuesDemonstrate excellent customer service by being friendly, courteous and helpful to all patronsEnsure that all staff are ready, on deck and prepared when their shifts startEnsure programs start and end on timeDeliver leadership coursesEnsure staff certifications are current and employee files are up-to-dateEnsure all staff adhere to the Aquatic Policies and ProceduresAssist the Aquatic Centre Manager with staff evaluationsMonitor changes of shifts and ensure adequate coverageMaintain current inventory of aquatic supplies and recommend purchasesMonitor and report pool statisticsMaintain payroll sheets as scheduledSupport the Aquatic Centre Manager as neededSupport the branch in registration, Duty Manager shifts, and ongoing special events10 hours of in-ratio hours, including Duty Manager shifts, lifeguard and swim instructor shift coverage, inspections, training, etc.Community EngagementSupport the branch general manager in ensuring the YMCA has a positive presence in the local communityFund DevelopmentParticipate in the Staff and Volunteer aspect of the Annual CampaignWhat qualities do we look for in YMCA Calgary Staff and Volunteers?Our diverse team of staff and volunteers are committed to making a positive impact in the community.
