- Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of an EHS management system
- Perform regulatory and best practice-driven hazard/risk assessments and develop action plans to drive improvement.
- Develop and present site-specific training programs to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Conduct internal site audits, develop reports and maintain records.
- Support external audits and progression of corrective action compliance.
- Assist in the development of standardized safety systems, policies, training, safety campaigns and programs to prevent injury and ensure compliance with Federal, Provincial and municipal laws.
- Align with Sysco Corporation to implement the corporate EHS strategy.
- Design safety methods to motivate and influence the creation of a world class safety culture.
- Implement standardized, actionable safety metrics and communication protocol to leadership teams to drive safety improvement.
- Maintain awareness of potential pending and current legislation that may impact safety standards, programs and initiatives.
- Actively drives performance and urgently strives to strategically solve problems and follow projects through to completion, integrated and balanced with the big-picture strategy.
- Monitor and communicate regulatory changes to the organization, recommending changes to result in compliance and provide technical support when needed.
- Ensure accident prevention/abatement through detailed injury and accident reporting, loss analysis & trending and investigation compliance.
- Work with Provincial regulatory officials to resolve any compliance or practice violations.
- Provide support to customers by ensuring contractor safety, and conducting on-site job hazard assessments.
- Complies with Sysco’s Food Safety Policy and procedures to ensure food safety, quality and legality requirements are met.
- Understands that their role is critical in creating a safe organization with minimal environmental impact and the value that brings to the organization.
- Is willing to drive Environmental, Health and Safety performance by acting as an example and holding their team accountable to complying with EHS programs, policies, and requirements.

- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 5+ years of EHS program management experience
- Strong knowledge of applicable Environmental and Health and Safety regulatory requirements
- Knowledge of principles and practices of business management including: supervision; assigning, evaluating, and modifying work functions and processes of executing programs; content and formatting of reports, and presentations
- Bachelor's Degree is strongly required for this position with major course work in EHS, Risk Management or a closely related field
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation.
- The National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) and other professionally recognized certifications in the safety, risk management related field are highly desirable
- Intermediate proficiency in the use of a variety of PC software including all Microsoft products
- Six sigma methodology certification and practice are highly valued
- Valid driver’s license in good standing with access to a vehicle is required.
