- Be a positive role model and student advocate.
- Provide individual and/or small group support to Indigenous and self-identified students.
- Accountable for self, students, and teachings.
- Support students in understanding academic lessons.
- Enhance students’ time management skills and completion of assignments at grade level.
- Work in collaboration with the ISW team, classroom teacher, school administration to foster a culturally safe learning environment for students.
- Join students in their activities, enhancing connections and modelling the experience.
- Guide students in developing school related problem-solving skills, and when necessary, steer students to proper resources.
- Documentation of student incidents in tandem with the SD48 representative.
- Report to Supervisor of events breaching safety, policy and/or protocols.
- Act in the strictest confidentiality and professional manner, including outside working hours.
- Targeted students: Indigenous Students.
- Perform other job-related duties within scope of role as presented by both Nation and SD48.
- A minimum of one year of related experience with local cultural knowledge.
- Preferable completion of Grade 12 or equivalent certification.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with school administrators, teachers, and staff.
- Demonstrated success in supporting Indigenous students and working within the community.
- Strong time management, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, follow through with assignments, and maintain confidentiality.
- Highly professional demeanor when interacting with students, parents, coworkers, and community members.
- Motivated self-starter, good time management and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow through with assignments, manage multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain confidentiality.
- Highly professional in all aspects of business, presentation and interaction with students, parents, co-workers, and community members.
- Must be able to provide a clear Criminal Record Check, including the vulnerable sector.
