About Our ClientOur Toronto based client is looking for an Ai Architect to identify, map, and implement multiple Ai solutions at some of the worlds most forward thinking, fast growth companies. This role can be based in Toronto or the Bay Area in California.ResponsibilitiesAre you an exceptional engineer eager for real-world impact and to push AI's boundaries? Imagine yourself diving into diverse, cutting-edge AI problems across multiple high-growth companies. Our clients unique R&D team partners directly with the worlds most leading edge companies, providing the technical horsepower and strategic guidance to accelerate their AI initiatives. We also play a critical role in our investment process, conducting deep technical diligence to identify the
most promising AI-driven businesses. Think of it as working in a dynamic startup environment, but without the inherent risks of a single
venture. You'll tackle fascinating challenges, meet and potentially work with brilliant founders and CTOs, and help unearth the next generation of industry leaders.As our AI Tech Lead (Ai Architect or Principal Engineer in most firms) you’ll parachute into leading edge companies, translate frontier research into production impact,
and win executive buy-in so founders can move faster than their market. Most weeks you’ll be the only engineer on-site, partnering with product and engineering leads while coaching CEOs on where AI creates ROI.
  • Architect & ship intelligent AI systems. Build production-ready LLM agents,
Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and fine-tuned domain-specific models;
orchestrate workflows with frameworks like LangChain/LlamaIndex/PydanticAI, optimise
inference and cost, and deploy on AWS/GCP with robust MLOps.
  • Lead by influence, not org-chart. Orchestrate 2–3-person teams (selecting from our best talent) and embed
seamlessly inside portfolio squads; set technical direction, code-review, unblock delivery.
  • Executive storytelling. Convert deep-tech concepts into strategic outcomes; negotiate budgets
and timelines with C-suite stakeholders.
  • Hands-on R&D. Rapidly prototype, run ablation studies, publish internal tech notes and
occasional external blog posts or papers.
  • Co-create AI roadmaps with founders. Run discovery workshops, frame measurable wins and
pitch 12–18-month AI strategies to CEOs and boards.
  • Safety & governance. Ship privacy guardrails, evaluation pipelines and alignment tests to keep
models reliable and compliant.Qualifications6+ yrs production software; 3+ yrs leading ML/AI
projectsPrior work at a Series B+ scale-up or FAANG-class firmProven track record influencing CEO/C-suite decisions on tech spend or product directionPresented to board members or investorsDeep grasp of GenAI & LLM tooling, vector DBs and scalable infraPublished research or OSS in ML systemsComfortable embedding in external teams and shipping without direct authorityExperience with vertical SaaS, CyberSec, Software Infrastructure, AI LabsHigh-agency, ambiguity-seeking, with crisp written &
