MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT – INSURANCE – BERMUDA – 10% TAX – HR306About this opportunityOur client is seeking a Management Accountant to join their Finance team in Bermuda. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, this role will play a key part in financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and supporting their dynamic insurance operations.Key duties and responsibilities:
  • Prepare all non-technical aspects of the monthly and quarterly financial close
  • Assist with technical insurance posting and reconciliations
  • Conduct variance analysis and explain key drivers of performance to senior management
  • Assist in the preparation of IFRS financial statements, board papers and management accounts
  • Assist in the preparation of regulatory reports (BSCR, Statutory Financial, NAIC)
  • Assist in the preparation of accounting memos in accordance with IFRS
  • Support internal and external audit processes, including documentation, reconciliations, and control assessments
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements in financial systems, reporting processes and data quality
  • Support senior management with ad hoc projects as needed
What you'll need
  • A professional accounting qualification (CA, CPA, or ACCA) is essential
  • 3+ years' post-qualification experience gained in the (re)insurance or financial service industries is required; experience within P&C re(insurance) is preferred
  • IFRS reporting experience is preferred
  • Strong understanding of (re)insurance principles and (re)insurance financial metrics
  • Current knowledge of finance systems is required; experience with Great Plains, Wdesk, and Microsoft Office systems is a distinct advantage
  • Familiarity with emerging Bermuda CIT and Substance-Based Tax Credits legislation will be beneficial
  • Detailed-oriented, organised and able to work under pressure to achieve tight deadlines
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work extended hours including weekends during busy periods is required
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate across departments
  • Proactive, adaptable, and driven to improve processes and reporting quality
