- Develop an externally funded research program related to animal welfare, ideally with a focus on the connection between human well-being and animal welfare.
- Train highly qualified personnel in the field of animal welfare.
- Create coursework for graduate and veterinary students, including advanced topics in animal welfare.
- Collaborate with the director of the SJDAWC to expand extra-curricular opportunities for veterinary students in animal welfare.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams within and outside the AVC to promote varied aspects of animal welfare research.
- Develop sustainable and impactful connections with local industry and community organizations to address timely and multi-factorial animal welfare issues.
