Reporting directly to the Director of Financial Reporting, the Manager of Financial Reporting is primarily responsible for oversight over the preparation of the company's International Financial Reporting Standards (“IFRS”) compliant quarterly external financial statements and Management, Discussions and Analysis (“MD&A”) and leading the interpretation and application of current and new accounting standards.Key responsibilities include:
- Oversee the preparation of the company's IFRS compliant quarterly external financial statements and MD&A, including underlying working papers and audit committee materials
- Coordinate and manage audit and other engagements with external auditors
- Lead the interpretation and application of current and new accounting standards, including researching, documenting, providing guidance and making recommendations on technical accounting issues, determining the appropriate accounting treatment for complex transactions and assessing any new system requirements/changes
- Review and oversee the monthly accounting for and reconciliation of complex accounting transactions and balances
- Contribute to and support digital finance transformation initiatives and projects
- Coach and mentor direct reports
- Other ad hoc financial reporting and technical accounting tasks
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and CPA designation
- 5+ years of progressive work experience in external financial reporting and technical accounting under IFRS, either in industry or from a public accounting firm
- Experience in leading/managing a small team of finance professionals
- External auditing experience from a public accounting firm is required
- Background in or exposure to telecommunications industry considered an asset
- Working knowledge of SAP considered an asset and is desirable
