Grow with us, H2O+U.Your OpportunityStantec Building Mechanical Water Team is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer EIT to join the Water Building Mechanical Discipline team in Canada East region. In this role, you will design HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems for industrial and municipal facilities in US and Canada. Majority of our projects are water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, storm water collection and pumping facilities for which you will design high quality, reliable, and efficient mechanical systems. You will design these systems for some of the most innovative and unique projects in the water industry in the world.In this role, you will work with team members in US and Canada. You will also work with other disciplines including but not limited to electrical engineers, process engineers, structural engineers, architects, and civil engineers in order to provide a well-coordinated design. You will continuously receive new projects with unique design criteria which require critical thinking, creativity, and innovation in design.Locations: Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Burnaby, Red DeerPrimary Responsibilities:Support Senior Mechanical Engineer with various levels of design development, services during construction for small, medium and large municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects.Assist with the development of design documents such as drawings, specifications, design criteria, and technical reports.Model buildings in load calculation software such as HAP 6.1 and Trace 3D.Design and analyze air and hydronic distribution systems (duct system and piping system)Determine equipment size by performing HVAC and Plumbing load calculations, and select equipment by using selection software, using manufacturer’s catalogs, and working with vendors.Create HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection drawings using Revit or AutoCADReview and apply Alberta and International mechanical and plumbing codes and standards.Review and apply NFPA 820 on wastewater treatment facilitiesAssist with engineering services during construction (ESDC) tasks such as submittal review and response to request for information (RFI)Collaborate with team members across Canada, US and IndiaSite visits for local projects which are under construction.Site visits in other parts of Canada, approximately 5% of the time.Position requirements:Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or related field3 plus years of hands-on experience in HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection design in Commercial or Industrial FacilitiesExperience in Water and Wastewater Industry is preferredCapability to gain P.Eng license in Canada within 1-2 years of employmentCapability to obtain EIT in the US within 1-2 years of employment is desirable.Strong background in heat transfer and thermodynamics conceptsUnderstanding of heating and cooling load calculation program such as HAP, Trace 3D Plus, or IESStrong experience with Revit, and AutoCAD.Understanding of Canadian and International mechanical and plumbing codes and standardsUnderstanding of NFPA 820 is desirable.Your Capabilities:Willingness to strive for excellence in all aspects of work activities and find it personally rewarding to meet and overcome challengesAbility to prioritize multiple tasks, responsibilities and projects and adjust to changing demands by maintaining high quality workStrong interpersonal, time management and communication skills (verbal and written).Ability to work collaboratively in a matrix environment and work with all levels of staff and leadership teamsShare your engineering knowledge with other team members and be eager to learn from your colleaguesThis description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.Pay Range:

Locations in Lower Mainland - BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario-$78,900.00 - $114,400.00 Annually

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
