Work in Culture’s (WIC) mission is to advance the careers of artists, creatives, and cultural workers, and to support the organizations that engage with them, through entrepreneurial and business skills development and innovative research.We develop and deliver business, entrepreneurial, organizational, and career training for arts and culture workers, in person and online, across all arts disciplines, cultural industries, and career stages.Our work includes workshops, e-learning, downloadable resources, mentoring programs, videos, podcasts, and research. With a province-wide mandate, we serve communities across Ontario, with Toronto as a primary region for delivery and engagement.In addition to training, Work in Culture offers sector services such as the Job Board+, which connects job-seekers with employers and career development opportunities. Our research initiatives include AI for Administration in Ontario’s Creative Industries and Making It Work 2026, an update to the benchmark 2019 sector study examining pathways to sustainable cultural careers before and after the pandemic.Work in Culture directly serves over 1,750 people annually and works with 15–20 partners across Ontario.About the RoleWork in Culture is seeking a candidate (between 15-30 years old, per Canada Summer Jobs Funding) who is passionate about arts and culture and excited to contribute to the development of Ontario’s creative sector. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both creative and administrative work, is eager to learn, and wants hands-on experience working with an organization that helps artists and cultural workers build entrepreneurial skills.This position supports initiatives that increase access for underserved communities and reflects Work in Culture’s commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility.The Administrative Assistant will work closely with the Program Manager and Marketing & Communications Manager, with additional supervision and guidance from the Executive Director and Finance & Operations Manager.Occasional flexibility to work evenings and weekends may be required. Some travel within the GTA may be required for on‑site events. Candidates do not require access to a personal vehicle.Key ResponsibilitiesMarketing & Communications Support
  • Assist with creating and scheduling communications content across platforms
  • Draft and edit newsletters, website updates, and promotional communications
  • Monitor engagement metrics and support basic analytics reporting
Community Outreach Support
  • Research and compile contact lists for artists, cultural organizations, and municipal cultural departments
  • Create and maintain a database of Ontario town and city cultural plans
  • Assist with outreach strategies to increase program participation, job board engagement, and organizational visibility
Program Support
  • Assist with planning, coordination, and execution of programs, workshops, and events
  • Support scheduling, registration, and participant communications
  • Provide day-of support for virtual and in-person events in the GTA
  • Assist with program evaluation by collecting feedback, tracking attendance, and sending follow-up communications
  • Explore and test AI-based education tools and courses to assess suitability for the arts and culture sector
Administrative Support
  • Assist with organizing and maintaining Microsoft SharePoint
  • Help create and manage organized records of program activities and marketing campaigns
  • Support development and maintenance of contact databases
  • Provide general office and administrative support
Creative Contribution
  • Share ideas and participate actively in in-person team meetings
  • Contribute to brainstorming and experimentation on how AI tools can enhance marketing, communications, and program delivery for Work in Culture and the sector
