- Identifies equipment breakdown causes, repairs and rebuilds mechanical equipment required for operations.
- Oversees and conducts preventative maintenance according to equipment requirements.
- Identify areas for improvement in maintenance processes and implement best practices and optimize maintenance strategies to increase equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Regularly inspect machinery and equipment to identify issues and maintenance needs and assess the condition of equipment and determine when maintenance or repairs are required. Collaborate with maintenance employees to identify and troubleshoot problems.
- Assists with the supervision of the maintenance team, including but not limited to overseeing and delegating tasks and enforcing safety protocols and guidelines within the maintenance department.
- Ensures that all maintenance activities comply with relevant industry regulations and standards.
- Monitor and maintain an inventory of spare parts and materials necessary for maintenance tasks. Sources and orders parts as required.
- Takes readings and maintains accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment status.
- Assist with general building maintenance repairs and basic construction work.
- May be required to assist with maintenance at Denninger’s retail locations.
- All other duties as assigned.
- An active 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright or Industrial Mechanic license is required.
- A minimum of 3 Years experience in manufacturing with a mechanical background.
- A minimum of 2 years experience in a supervisory or team lead capacity.
- Ability to work from schematics, drawings and prints when troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of food and meat plant regulatory standards (CFIA, etc.), GMP, HACCP, food safety, etc.
- Analytical, with problem-identification and problem-solving capabilities.
- Knowledge of CMMS is a strong asset.
- Knowledge and experience with refrigeration is required.
- HVAC skills are an asset.
- Strong communication skills and hands-on leadership style with the ability to delegate.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
- Required to work on the ground under machinery and work in coolers or freezers.
- Standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Bend and stoop to grasp objects and climb ladders.
- Bend and twist the upper body, reach above and below shoulders.
- Bend and lift loads, up to 50 pounds.
- Push and pull up to 100 pounds.
- Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation.
- Flexibility in scheduling required.
- Exposure to extreme temperatures.
