
Law Associate – Tax Litigation and Dispute Resolution

What you will do
- Conduct legal research, analysis and assessment
- Prepare correspondence and legal documents (such as written representations, notices of objections, and pleadings) for tax authorities (such as the Canada Revenue Agency) and the courts (such as the Tax Court of Canada)
- Assist clients in responding to federal and provincial audits
- Assist with the litigation process in federal and provincial courts and tribunals
- Advise clients on the tax dispute resolution process and represent clients with tax authorities
- Prepare legal opinions with respect to the tax consequences of transactions, and performing post-transaction audits for tax efficacy and litigation risk
- Stay informed on relevant areas of law and participate in continuing education and professional development activities
- Juris Doctor or Master of Taxation (or equivalent)
- Member of the Law Society of Ontario and in good standing
- One to five years of tax dispute and litigation experience gained at a reputable firm
- Knowledge of Canada Revenue Agency disputes processes, and the procedure of the Tax Court of Canada and other relevant courts/tribunals
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Self-driven, detail-oriented and hard-working
- Resourcefulness and the ability to work with a high level of autonomy
