- Plan, prepare and instruct program courses;
- use creative adult learning strategies in the preparation and delivery of online, in-person and hybrid classroom learning;
- assessment and evaluation of student learning;
- recording and submitting grades; providing support to students to ensure their success;
- working collaboratively with colleagues and industry partners.
- Demonstrated competence for teaching or training adult learners, using a variety of online and in-person teaching strategies to address different learning styles and a diverse student population.
- A solid understanding of the scope and role of a NUA/HUC within Island Health.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the content covered in the course(s) being taught.
- Ability to work with a high degree of independence while maintaining effective working relationships with relevant VIU department staff and partners.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of relevant technology and software.
- Provincial Instructors Diploma
- Experience instructing in a post-secondary educational institution
- Familiarity with online teaching platforms, for example D2L
