Job DescriptionOur client is seeking a Controller for a permanent, part-time role with their growing real estate business based in Halifax, NS. This permanent, part-time role offers approximately 20 hours per week and is with a dynamic and forward-thinking management group. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in financial leadership, full-cycle accounting, and process improvement.Key Responsibilities for the Job:
  • Hands on day-to-day accounting including journal entries, general ledger, and month-end processes
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements
  • Monitor and manage cash flow across multiple entities
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Track construction and development project costs and compare to budget
  • Maintain banking relationships and assist with financing requirements
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes
  • Prepare financial reports and updates for ownership or senior management
  • Identify and implement improvements to accounting systems and processes
  • Coordinate with external accountants for tax filings and ensure compliance with CRA regulations
Experience & Attributes for Success:
  • CPA designation or equivalent combination of training and experience in full-cycle accounting
  • Proven experience working across multiple entities or projects is strongly preferred
  • Comfort navigating fast-paced, changing, and growing environments
  • Ability to think big-picture while managing the day-to-day details
  • A proactive mindset and passion for innovation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Professional communication and interpersonal skills
