Job DescriptionWe are excited to partner with our client, a construction and real estate company, to find a dynamic and strategic Controller to join their leadership team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced accounting professional to play a key role in driving the financial success of an established and continually growing organization.Located in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the ideal candidate will offer extensive financial management expertise, a strategic, forward-thinking approach, and a proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.Key Responsibilities for the Job:
  • Lead budget management, ensuring financial targets and goals are met
  • Oversee risk management and reporting, ensuring fiscal health and compliance
  • Conduct financial analysis and reviews to guide decision-making
  • Collaborate with and report to the President
  • Prepare monthly executive financial statements and reports
  • Manage external advisors
  • Lead the preparation of proposals and RFPs
  • Supervise, develop, and mentor staff, promoting a culture of continuous improvement
  • Handle ad hoc financial requests and projects as needed
Skills & Attributes for Success:
  • Chartered Professional Accountant designation
  • 10+ years’ of progressive financial management experience, with a proven track record of leadership
  • Previous experience in mergers/acquisitions is a strong asset
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills
  • Proven team player with professional and personable communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fluid environment while adjusting priorities as needed
  • Demonstrates a high degree of integrity, diplomacy, discretion and confidentiality
