
5th Class Plant Maintenance Mechanic

- Work to maintain daily building operations, maintenance and repairs.
- Operate and maintain all high-pressure steam, hot water heating and all other pressure piping equipment as per ABSA regulations.
- Dismantle machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs. Re-assemble and test after repair.
- Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot all HVAC equipment.
- Maintain waste water systems by testing and treatment of all system and process loops.
- Operate power tools and machine shop machinery (saws, drills, milling machines, welders)
- Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing routine preventive and corrective maintenance requirements on engines, compressors, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines
- Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
- On problems with higher complexity, consult with supervisor and/or peer mechanics for guidance/instructions to succeed.
- Assisting outside contractors on major repairs of systems and complex machinery.
- 2+ years of experience in similar positions in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Experience in mechanical repairs, a strong asset.
- 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate.
- Must be available to work rotating shifts of 8 hours or more per day (hours vary between 5am-8pm or later depending on needs of the business).
- Must be available to work overtime or weekends when needed.
- Must have your own steel toe boots.
- Adhere to all company and Alberta OH&S operating and safety procedures and policies.
- Knowledge of fire suppression systems, alarm systems, mechanical, HVAC, electrical, control systems, would be an asset.
