- Follow through with Fire Alarm estimating process to develop competitive bids.
- Review and understand Fire Alarm project specifications and drawings.
- Produce material and labour take-offs through drawings to develop accurate quotations.
- Occasional site/tender walk-throughs to cross refence drawings to avoid site interferences and identify proactive solutions.
- Communicate with clients to gather information, clarify specifications, wording, etc.
- Coordinate with sub-contractors and suppliers to obtain pricing to include within the final quotation provided to the client.
- Communication and follow up with salespeople to coordinate the closing of the bid review.
- Attend scheduled sales manager meetings to discuss product, codes and issues.
- Coordinate with the project management team to create process and guidelines to help with the expansion of the department.
- Diploma/degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Electrical Engineering/Technology, Construction Management, or equivalent industry experience.
- 2-5+ years' experience in fire alarm estimating, design-assist, or fire/life safety project coordination.
- Demonstrated experience reading fire alarm drawings/specifications and producing take-offs, quotes, and bid packages.
- Experience with tendering processes (RFQs/RFPs), scope review, bid leveling, and change management.
- Familiarity with fire alarm equipment, devices, and typical system architectures (conventional/addressable, voice evac, networking).
- Working knowledge of applicable fire alarm and building codes/standards.
- Valid driver's license and ability to attend occasional site/tender walkthroughs.
- Ability to coordinate pricing with suppliers/subcontractors and maintain vendor relationships.
- Proven ability to work cross-functionally with sales and project management teams.
- Strong documentation habits and ability to follow internal estimating/bid procedures.
- Strong organization, deadline management, and follow-up with sales to support bid closing.
