- Timely delivery of Building Code Compliant and cost-effective electrical Production and Site Construction Drawings through acute collaboration with other Design Disciplines, Project Management, Manufacturing, Estimating, and Supply Chain.
- Coordinates electrical designs with other disciplines (Mechanical, Civil, Architectural, and structural) to ensure seamless integration to Approved for Construction drawing status.
- Assist the electrical estimator in preliminary design and sales drawing preparation as required.
- Prepares electrical Design drawings using the current Canadian Electrical Code, Energy Codes, Standards, and installation methods from the design package containing the bid specifications and sales drawings.
- Prepares work scope and electrical equipment specifications.
- Prepares design and equipment layout considering access, maintenance, and installation.
- Prepares accurate, detailed material take-offs which also identifies long-lead items.
- Conduct plant visits for project inspections and other duties as assigned.
- Calculates Electrical loads, lighting levels, service, and distribution requirements.
- Designs, sources, and evaluates fire alarm systems.
- References the product cost estimate during the drawing process and raises any significant anomalies with the appropriate internal stakeholders.
- Maintains awareness of current building codes through internal and external technical resources.
- Interacts with the internal stakeholders of the manufacturing team frequently to confirm the accuracy of drawings, Material take-off selections/quantities, buildability, and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop Drafting and Procedure standards in conjunction with various team members.
- Participate in various continuous improvement initiatives.
- 5+ years of relevant experience in electrical design (power, lighting, fire alarm, controls, Security, and DATA)
- Experience in Revit is a must and BIM360; knowledge of Auto Cad is an asset but not necessary.
- Completion of the Electrical Engineering Technology program or Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering (not a must)
- Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code, National Fire Alarm Code, National & Provincial Building Codes, National Energy Code of Canada, and Knowledge of US Building Codes and Electrical Codes is considered an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret Engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of discipline drawings and modular building construction would be an asset.
- Able to create and maintain REVIT families.
