Job Category: Human ResourcesJob Description:We are seeking a strategic Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist to lead full-cycle recruitment and drive talent strategy for roles across Seaspan's Shipyard Operations which includes Production, Facilities & Maintenance, Health Safety & Environment, Security, and Planning & Scheduling.You bring strong business acumen to attract, assess, and hire top-tier talent while optimizing recruitment processes and enhancing employer branding. The Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist provides market intelligence and is a trusted advisor to leaders on talent market trends. You are a natural relationship builder and tailor your approach and communication style to each audience, offering balanced perspectives and building trust through clarity and credibility. This position is complex due to the volume and breadth of roles along with the individual complexity of particular assignments.Note: This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding. Employees will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement.What you'll do
  • Function as a trusted partner to the business by leading the entire recruitment cycle for the assigned portfolio, covering salaried roles from intake meetings through to negotiation and candidate acceptance.
  • Conduct thorough screening to confirm that candidates possess the competencies, behaviors, and skills required for success in their role at Seaspan.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact with candidates, ensuring a positive experience throughout the process.
  • Collaborate with Hiring Managers and HR Business Partners to identify staffing requirements, create recruitment plans, and advise on internal opportunities.
  • Review resumes, conduct interviews, and evaluate Candidates' qualifications and suitability for internal roles.
  • Develop effective sourcing strategies locally, nationally and internationally.
  • Build proactive talent pipelines for critical and hard-to-fill roles.
  • Engage in proactive sourcing by leveraging social media, direct outreach, community partnerships, employee referrals, and innovative recruitment marketing strategies.
  • Keep detailed records and provide thorough written reviews to Hiring Managers for candidates who have been interviewed.
  • Collaborate with HR Centres of Excellence (COE) to generate and process candidate offers.
  • Partner with the HR team to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and legal requirements governing internal mobility and recruitment.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and other recruitment tools.
  • Initiate new-hire workflows and facilitate internal promotions, transfers, and conversions.
  • Support TA transformation to automate tasks, improve HR processes, and optimize digital tools. Identify ways to improve workflows for efficiency and reduce time-to-hire.
What you'll bring
  • 6+ years full-cycle in-house or mix of in-house and agency recruiting experience for mid-to-senior level roles in the shipbuilding, manufacturing or construction industry. Experience in a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of recruitment processes and best practices, including sourcing, screening, and interviewing.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic sourcing, including social media outreach (LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook groups), leveraging network contacts of Hiring Managers and Employees, and other creative sources.
  • Strong experience with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), with a preference for Oracle Recruiting Cloud (ORC), including best practices for sourcing, screening, and interviewing.
  • Outstanding relationship and interpersonal skills, with proven influencing skills at all levels of an organization.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and reprioritize based on business demands.
  • Good judgment, problem solving and reasoning skills.
  • Maintains a high level of integrity and confidentiality when managing sensitive information.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Outlook/Word/Excel/PowerPoint.
  • Proactive and customer service focused to deliver exceptional service to Hiring Managers and Candidates.
  • Strong understanding of how HR functions are interconnected and have proven experience building strong relationships with Talent Acquisition, HR Business Partners, Total Rewards, and other teams.

The estimated salary for this position is $99,000 - $121,000. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors, including the successful Candidate's skill set and experience, the position's location, and internal equity.
