Reporting to the Superintendent, the Mine Dispatch Supervisor is a pivotal role that combines underground supervision and centralized coordination of underground mining operations. This position ensures the safe and efficient execution of daily development and production activities while leveraging real-time data and technology to optimize dispatching decisions. The Mine Dispatcher collaborates with multiple departments to meet operational targets.
  • Operational Planning and Scheduling:
  • Working in collaboration with underground supervisors and captains to maintain 36 hour-rolling shift schedule for all underground operations
  • Manage real-time dispatching and task assignments to underground personnel
  • Document and justify variances in the compliance between planned and actual results during their 3-shift plan
  • Communicate effectively with crews, technical services, and other departments
  • Ensure accurate metric tracking, data collection and validation
  • Optimize dispatching decisions and adjustments based on real-time operational data, aiming to enhance efficiency and productivity
  • Mine Monitoring and Control:
  • Monitor personnel & equipment localization
  • Active Monitoring of UG power consumption and swift response when abnormal values are detected
  • Monitor underground pumps and water levels
  • Monitor ore and waste pass levels
  • Liaison between Paste Plant and UG Mine Operations
  • Monitor ventilation system and turn fans on/off as required
  • Track underground consumables and production actuals
  • Real time monitoring of equipment status and validation of failure/ delay codes
  • Advise the Maintenance department of equipment issues and failures requiring repair
  • Compliance and Safety:
  • Ensure compliance with underground safety standards
  • Assigns work that complies with safety standards and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in safety meetings and improvement programs
  • Promote a positive work environment and maintain good relations with employees and contractors
  • Technology Integration:
  • Support and troubleshoot technology used in the control room and escalate issues as needed
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of underground mining or mine engineering experience
  • Grade 12 education or equivalent experience with administrative capabilities
  • Competency with Ontario Mining Act and Regulations
  • Supervisor’s Common Core certification (within 12 months of role start)
  • Minimum of 3 years in underground mine operations or mine engineering
  • Supervisors Common Core (within 12 months of job role)
  • Experience with fleet management systems and scheduling software
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives under tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
  • Strong English communication skills (oral and written)
Your Work Schedule:
  • Schedule: 7 days of work, followed by 7 days off, at our Macassa Mine in Kirkland Lake, ON.
