We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Civil Technologist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing contract drawings from survey to tender, while also supporting data collection efforts. You’ll play a pivotal role in providing civil design and drafting expertise for site plan development projects, including sanitary and storm sewers, service supply connections, watermains, site grading, drainage, road design, and stormwater management. The ideal candidate can independently handle all key tasks with minimal supervision.Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to create preliminary and construction drawings based on initial concepts, surveys, and design standards.
  • Prepare permit drawings, outside plant construction drawings, and final as-built drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D software.
  • Develop CAD content to enhance and standardize company practices.
  • Ensure permit applications comply with Municipal Consent Requirements (MCR), paying close attention to city-specific drawing standards.
  • Create utility drawings (buried and aerial) aligned with CSA and ESA standards.
  • Design plan and profile drawings, including duct layouts, route alignments, manhole and structure details.
  • Review and validate designs to ensure they meet CSA, municipal, and client standards.
  • Manage document control tasks such as updating as-built records, creating and plotting drawing sets, and maintaining CAD archives.
  • Perform quality control on all work, ensuring drawings are accurate, approved, and properly filed.
  • Participate in project meetings and coordinate with team members to ensure timely and efficient delivery of project deliverables.
  • Conduct site inspections and collect data, including topographic surveys.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology.
  • C.E.T. designation or progress toward obtaining it is considered an asset.
  • Civil design experience in the industrial building sector is a plus.
  • Extensive knowledge of AutoCAD, including layering techniques, objects, alignments, and x-references.
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D software.
Work Experience
  • At least 5 years of experience as a CAD technician/designer.
  • Experience in the food and beverage or pharmaceutical industries is an asset.
  • Familiarity with stormwater management design and modeling.
