- Identify organizational capability gaps and plans for how to best address them through the CDO/CMO partners.
- Locate or propose potential business deals by contacting potential partners, discovering and exploring opportunities
- Establish external partnerships with generic companies; conduct commercial due diligence on the BD opportunities. Take deals to closure.
- Liaise closely with other departments to ensure that these functions fully support business development activities, with the objective to submit and launch projects as per plan.
- Existing partner retention - Present new products and services and enhance existing relationships.
- Negotiate with BD partners on matters related to proposal, analysis, follow-ups for all the in-licensing deals
- Identify both short term (launch horizon 3 years) and mid-term (3-5 years) pipeline / portfolio opportunities and shape the external BD portfolio strategy. (Complement the work of Global Portfolio Management, which has a longer-term, more strategic in-house product selection objective).
- Provide medium-long-term insights to the business, identifying the potential gaps in order to offer recommendations for future product development aimed at enhancing the long-term future profitability of the business.
- Play a leading role in ideating a sustainable and balanced portfolio comprising complex generics & non-complex generics-based business
- Research, integrate and translate market research insights into opportunities and strategies that shape decisions and drive organizational action for the US Gx business, its portfolio of products, and pipeline development products.
- Recommend products for selection through leveraging the inhouse capabilities or engaging with the potential BD partners.
- Work closely with the Global Portfolio Management team to leverage the US portfolio for the ex-US markets.
- Prioritize and present the synthesized ideas to management, sales and finance in order to ensure products are filed and commercialized on time.
- Support review and execute external pipeline products for add/hold/drop decisions, selecting the most compelling opportunities to increase the possibility of high return on investment and ensure a strong understanding and alignment of goals and messaging.
- Conduct research and perform business intelligence on products and markets.
- Explore all global markets to identify, analyze, and evaluate new opportunities for growth.
- Cooperate with cross-functional colleagues to identify and evaluate new business development opportunities.
- Manage the due diligence processes by collaborating with experts from other functional areas within Apotex, SK Capital and external consultants.
- Initiate, draft (with legal support), structure, negotiate and close agreements in the form of product in-licensing, distribution arrangements, acquisitions, co-development.
- Develop and maintain a broad professional network with skilled, potential partners in all global markets.
- Attend industry meetings, trade shows, and events.

- Education
- Bachelors in Finance, Business, Pharmaceuticals or a related area

- Deal sheet to show case negotiation skills and established networks in the pharmaceutical industry
- Experience leading complex, multi-faceted business deals across functions in a highly regulated industry.
- High level of communication, planning, organization, analytical and modeling skills
- Proficiency Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, IQVIA and knowledge of existing data sources in the pharma industry
- A comprehensive understanding of the complex generics pharmaceutical and consumer healthcare markets and players operating globally.
- Extensive experience structuring, negotiating, and closing major business development deals, including in-licensing, out-licensing, co-development, out-sourcing R&D, and product supply.
- Broad knowledge in several disciplines including sales and marketing, R&D, regulatory and medical affairs, quality assurance, manufacturing, finance, legal and intellectual property.
- Proven ability to lead due diligence teams, drive business decisions, and manage multiple projects effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Energetic, results-oriented, self-starter with a strong executive presence, communicator with impact, collaborative mindset, and ability to think strategically and analytically.
- Good business instincts with fluency in business analytics, deal modeling, business cases and valuation methodologies.

- Experience
- At least 5 years in a portfolio & business development role or a highly tangential role, most of which in the Canadian or US generic pharmaceutical industry or in an investment banking/ management consulting role.
