The position of Licensed Practical Nurse will commit to incorporate our mission, vision, and our values, which are Compassion, Collaboration, Respect, Social Justice, Integrity and Stewardship, and uphold our ethical traditions as foundational aspects in all actions and decision-making.Reporting to the LPN Supervisor, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for managing the day-to-day delivery of care to residents by motivating and empowering the team. The LPN works cohesively with members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure the nursing process (Assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation) is individualized and ongoing, such that changing needs of residents are addressed and met.In accordance with Covenant Care’s mission, vision, and values, this position is responsible for ensuring that residents receive quality care and service according to Covenant Care policies and procedures. Provides support to residents, their family and visitors during the resident’s end of life journey that will enable choice, dignity, privacy, respect and individuality.Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an approved Practical Nurse Program required
  • Current registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) required
  • Current CPR / First Aid Certification / Equivalency required
  • Dementia education an asset
  • Strong critical assessment skills
  • Exhibits open and sincere approach to relating to people by demonstrating respect and compassion for everyone equally
  • Recognizes and responds effectively to verbal and non-verbal cues with exceptional active listening skills
  • Ability and knowledge to work in a continuing care setting and the ability to deal with difficult behaviors
  • Ability to cope with frequent changes such as daily routine, workload, shifts and resident needs and possess exceptional multi-tasking and time management skills
