- Lead and manage the day-to-day activities of the payroll function for US and Canadian hourly and salaried employees.
- Manage, mentor, and coach payroll team members, supporting career development and performance management.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance payroll policies, procedures, and timekeeping processes.
- Oversee ongoing payroll operations and system optimization in partnership with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
- Review and approve payroll reports, analyses, contribution files (e.g., retirement plans), and benefit invoices prior to submission and reconciliation.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, provincial, and state payroll tax, reporting, and remittance requirements.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes impacting payroll, compensation, and benefits, and communicate implications to stakeholders.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll data and employee information.
- Act as the payroll subject matter expert, identifying opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives related to payroll processes and controls.
- Prepare and review preliminary payroll reports and comparative analyses.
- Identify, investigate, and resolve payroll discrepancies and issues.
- Lead and support payroll-related audits.
- Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation.
- 7+ years of payroll and benefits administration experience across Canada and the United States.
- 4+ years of people leadership experience.
- Experience processing payroll for 400+ employees.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. payroll legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Excel Pivot Tables and V Lookups
- Hands-on experience with Dayforce
