Vegetation & Wetland Ecologist

- Utilize your knowledge of vegetation community and wetland characterization, impact and effects assessments, mitigation management, and habitat reclamation to obtain regulatory permits and approvals
- Collaborate with our talented professionals across multiple disciplines to plan projects, implement environmentally sustainable and innovative designs, manage contractors, and coordinate with regulatory agencies
- Be the subject matter expert providing high-value technical services to develop positive relationships with our key clients, both internal and external to the organization
- Plan and execute field programs in local and remote sites
- Prepare and review technical reports
- Develop project proposals and budgets
- Participate in our global environmental social governance, joint health and safety, or a local social committee
- Travel throughout Canada
- Initiative, motivation and adaptability to manage project deliverables and achieve goals
- Ability to build positive, effective relationships with clients and multi-disciplinary project teams
- Superb verbal and written communication skills including your experience in writing proposals, technical reports and general project correspondence
- Experience planning, leading, and conducting vegetation and wetland surveys
- Understanding and experience with the Alberta Wetland Policy and wetland classifications
- Proven taxonomic vegetation identification skills including wetland indicators, rare plants, native plants, and introduced and/or weed species
- Knowledge and experience with various Ecological Land Classification (ELC) systems and spatial datasets such as the Alberta Vegetation Inventory
- Ability to prepare and digitize ELC mapping and wetland boundaries by interpreting digital imagery and field data derived from detailed surveys
- Working knowledge of the Canadian System of Soil Classification and AGRASID
- Strong understanding of provincial and federal regulatory legislation, guidelines, and regulations
- Reclamation, restoration, and/or bioengineering experience
- Experience and knowledge in various market sectors including water resources, mining, infrastructure, and transportation
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite® and capability with GIS and data management
- Participation in industry Technical and Professional associations
