
Lead Operator

- Effectively, efficiently and safely Operate the main line at the pouring table to make the product and all other machines.
- Learn all other operator positions around the main manufacturing line to provide leadership to co-workers.
- Assist in the operation of whole production line as and when needed.
- Perform machine adjustments, troubleshoot problems, to optimize the manufacturing line to ensure safety and quality of product.
- Collaborate with the Production Team Leader to achieve safety, quality, cost and production objectives. Act as a back-up Team leader when required.
- Control the inventory of bulk raw materials and maintain inventory of consumables; Communicate raw material and consumables shortages to Team leader.
- Communicate Safety, Quality, Cost, Productivity and raw material concerns to the Team Leader.
- Collaborate with the quality laboratory during pre-production tests, new formula testing or new raw material testing.
- Document key production losses with accuracy for monitoring and improving production activities.
- Consult the computer-aided production management system (CAPM), perform in-line Quality checks and ensure manufactured product is within quality specifications.
- Support the Team Leader in production activities and the maintenance team in the implementation of the preventive maintenance plan.
- Train new hires.
- Perform all other related tasks.
- Suggest any measures aimed at improving production activities and occupational health/safety.
- Handling of hazardous products like isocyanates and fiberglass.
- Mandatory wearing of cartridge masks, gloves and “overalls” depending on the work area.
- Safety glasses, earplugs and safety boots are always required.
- High school diploma
- Hazardous materials handling courses (an asset).
- HAZMAT Spill Course (an asset).
- CAPM software: AS 400 (an asset).
- Consultation and understanding of MSDSs.
- Driving a forklift (an asset).
- Health and Safety Standards.
- Experience in a manufacturing plant (an asset).
- Autonomy with good time management skills.
