
Property Large Loss Claims Consultant

- Manage, investigate, analyze, negotiate and resolve large and complex commercial property claims generally with exposures over $1M or involving specialized kind of loss within Canada and internationally;
- Engage and manage internal and external counsel, consultants, adjusters, accountants and engineers to confirm coverage, determine liability and assess damages;
- Mentor, guide and provide technical advice to regional file handlers to ensure consistent and effective claims handling and support long term succession planning;
- Train colleagues on complex claims handling;
- Work with Underwriting, Loss Prevention and other stakeholders to identify potential risks, hazards and trends, sharing feedback and lessons learned;
- Provide brilliant customer service to Brokers, Customers, and Colleagues
- Deliver and exceed on all key performance indicators as it relates to loss development and loss adjustment expenses, claims leakage control and expense management;
- Leverage your expertise in a creative, continuous improvement environment to support a model of best practice operations;
- Effectively negotiate claims when appropriate;
- Attend settlement conferences and trials.
- Attend loss locations and other client and broker meetings, when appropriate.

- 10+ years experience with direct handling of large and complex commercial property claims.
- Appropriate knowledge of all relevant regulatory and legal requirements applicable to the position
- Undergraduate Degree or CIP designation (asset)
- Flexible to travel as needed
