The PA supports access to timely care, promotes health and wellness, and helps manage chronic and acute conditions in alignment with the team-based care model.The Physician Assistant (PA) will be assigned to a Primary Supervising physician and will work with other Clinical Supervising Physicians as determined by the Chief of the department. The PA will function as a part of an interdisciplinary team and will engage in patient assessments, diagnostic workups, procedures, and management as determined by the Canadian Association of Physician Assistant Scope of Practice and National Competency Profile and the supervising physician. The degree of supervision and practice will be a product of assessment of competency of the PA by the physician and in accordance with existing regulation of Physician Assistant by the college of Physician Assistant and Surgeons of New Brunswick.QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be certified either through the Physician Assistant Certification Council Canada or the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants from the United States.
- Must be eligible for registration by the College of Physician Assistant and Surgeons of New Brunswick.
- Must have current BLS (Basis Life Support).
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment is an asset.
- Ability to perform the duties of the position.

- Provide primary care services under the supervision of a physician and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Conduct comprehensive health assessments, including patient histories and physical exams.
- Diagnose and manage common acute and chronic conditions following evidence-based guidelines.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., lab work, imaging).
- Prescribe medications and treatments within scope of practice and local regulations.
- Provide continuity of care for rostered patients and support same-day/urgent care needs.
- Counsel patients and families on disease prevention, lifestyle changes, and chronic disease self-management.
- Participate in community health initiatives and outreach programs to improve population health outcomes.
- Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, social workers, and other providers to deliver coordinated care.
- Participate in team huddles, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Support the development of care plans for patients with complex needs.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Assist with tracking preventive health measures and managing patient panels.
- Contribute to data collection and reporting for quality improvement and accountability. Liaise with allied health, nursing team and consultants.
