- Leads a team of compensation and benefits professionals and support team members, including management of day-to-day activities and projects. Provides coaching and feedback to motivate and engage employee outcomes in the attainment of team goals and objectives.
- Manages compensation and benefit programs and projects to support the organization's total rewards philosophy and overall employee experience, including benchmarking and analysis, recommendations for program and process changes, budget management, and effective communication and education
- Manages the job evaluation and market data review process and collaborates with HR Business Partners on salaries for new hires and employee movements.
- Leads the annual performance-based compensation review process including incentive programs
- Advises Senior Management on legislative changes and compensation/benefits best practices while collaborating with HR stakeholders to deliver data-driven total rewards insights that enhance the employee experience.
- Manages external benefits provider and consultant vendor relationships including contract negotiations
- Partners with HR stakeholders on collective bargaining, including managing costings with respect to compensation and benefit and the implementation of the finalized collective agreement in the areas of compensation and benefits.
- Supports the regulatory process by leading the team providing compensation and benefits information in the creation of regulatory evidence and proceedings.
- University bachelor's degree with a degree or diploma in Human Resources or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent.
- Minimum seven (7) to ten (10) years professional level experience in human resources, including compensation, benefits and job evaluation.
- Progressive leadership experience, including project leadership experience
- Experience with job design and human resources analytics (strongly preferred)
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) and/or Certified Compensation/Benefits Professional (strongly preferred)
- Thorough knowledge and experience with compensation, job evaluation, reward strategies, benefits processes and programs
- Excellent project management and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail, data analysis, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to motivate, manage and develop a team with high work volume in a changing environment
