Closing Date: September 15, 2024Under the direction of the Executive Director FM-PRO Operations, the Director Property Services is responsible for the strategic vision and operational management of UHN's property services portfolio.Primary responsibilities include oversight of all aspects of UHN's retail, commercial, and residential leasing and licensing strategy and administration; property management of offsite locations; parking operations; shuttle bus services; and the print department.The Director serves as UHN's operational liaison with real estate brokers, landlords, tenants, and vendors, ensuring all leasing and licensing activities are aligned with UHN's strategic vision.The Director champions innovation, inclusion, and service excellence in all aspects of the property services portfolio. A key focus of this role is curating and implementing a dynamic retail strategy that enhances the overall customer experience for TeamUHN, our patients, learners, and visitors.This role requires a leader with strong business acumen, stakeholder engagement skills, and a passion for enhancing the customer experience.
- Direct, manage, and monitor all aspects of commercial and retail leases, residential rental houses and space licenses for UHN including renewals, contract extensions and all other ancillary legal documents required.
- Lead UHN's retail strategy visioning and implementation across all UHN sites
- Develop short term and long-term business plans maximizing revenue and minimizing expenses to UHN. Execute approved plan(s).
- Coordinate shuttle and parking operations; maintain parking infrastructure across UHN sites
- Manage third party service contracts including day-to-day operations, leading RFPs, renewals, and monitoring quality deliverables.
- Proactively identifies risk, implements mitigation strategies, and evaluates the impact of risk across all UHN sites.
- Ensures policies and strategies comply with applicable regulations, governance standards, best practices and UHN strategic vision
- Keeps abreast of emerging issues, trends and evolving regulatory requirements, and assesses the potential impact to UHN.
- Collaborate and coordinate effectively with stakeholders internally and externally to UHN. Serve as a role model and subject matter expert.
- Lead, coach, mentor, and support the Property Services team
- Manage annual budget, monitor financial reports, reconcile variances, and lead strategies to achieve plan.
- Experience with lease negotiations; lease management; landlord and tenant relationship management required
- Ability to lead and collaborate in a professional and courteous manner in a matrixed, multidisciplinary environment
- Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and organize multiple tasks
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentations
- Proven expertise managing large financial budgets
- Self-directed and able to work effectively with minimal supervision
- Minimum of 7 years of practical and related experience in leasing, retail, property management, and ancillary services
- Completion of a Bachelor degree is required, ideally in Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field
- Completion of a Master's degree in Business or Real Estate or recognized equivalent an asset
- Excellent project management and strategic planning skills; PMP Certification an asset
- Recognized courses in Real Estate, Leasing Administration preferred
- Experience with Residential Tenancies Act an asset
- Experience in the Not-for-Profit or service sectors an asset
- Experience in Healthcare, Research, or Education settings an asset
