
AutoCAD Designer

- Create custom sketches and incorporate custom drawings into tool palettes.
- Provide assistance to the team leader in the interpretation and implementation of specifications and requirements and the procurement and use of AutoCAD files.
- Prepare electronic layouts, charts, detailed scale drawings, and material and equipment requirements from sketches, specifications, and standard layouts provided.
- Revise computer-aided designs and plans to comply with modified specifications made during actual construction Participate in ongoing product and technical training.
- Review plans and writing technical reports to meet project specifications.
- Complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets.
- Employ problem-solving strategies and find solutions to product design issues.
- Ensure proper documentation of all work, products and relevant activities.
- Carry out assignments on project design teams.
- Post-secondary College Graduate in design or a related electronic industry field.
- 1 to 3 years of Design experience is preferred.
- Experience in Fire Alarm, Electronic or Mechanical System design is an asset.
- Proficient in using AutoCAD, including 3D modeling functions.
- Canadian Fire Alarm Association (CFAA) Registration or CFAA Student working towards CFAA certification.
- Technical experience of in-field Life Safety Systems is an asset.
- Possess a valid and clean motor vehicle license (G License) an asset.
- Understanding of the Life Safety Industry codes and standards an asset.
- Able to read and understand engineered drawings, specifications, programs, schematics, installation manuals, and service manuals.
- Strong presentation, oratory, and written skills.
- Demonstrated ability to finish multiple projects on time and scale.
- Computer literate, including effective working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail and Adobe Products.
- Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects.
- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
- Excellent organization and project management skills, including the ability to multitask in a fast-paced product development environment.
