The Community Services Department is currently recruiting for enthusiastic Skate Monitors to contribute to the Drop-in Skate and Shinny Hockey Programs at City Arenas.What you will do:
  • Supervise Public skating and Shinny hockey as scheduled
  • Assist, direct and provide information to the public regarding arena programs
  • Maintain program attendance and ensure Shinny and Members Skate participants have paid admission
  • Advise participants of safety requirements and guidelines
  • Follow and enforce rules to ensure the safety of patrons and staff
  • Provide outstanding customer service to patrons
  • Create a positive workplace environment through respectful interactions with recreation facility staff
  • Respond to emergency situations as needed
  • Attend training as required
  • Perform other relevant duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Minimum 18 years of age is required
  • Completion of Grade 12 or GED
Skills required for success:
  • Experience working with the general public, including children
  • Skating ability and possession of skates and helmet
  • Basic level of proficiency using Google Applications
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to handle difficult situations and provide excellent customer service
  • Ability to work independently under minimal or no supervision
  • Ability to work in various arena locations throughout the City
