Login to your McGill Workday account and apply to this posting using the Find Jobs report (type Find Jobs in the search bar).This position is intended for a student currently enrolled in the Graduate Program of Sound Recording at the Schulich School of Music (SSM) or with approval of the Sound Recording Area Coordinator, currently enrolled in the SR qualifying year.Position Summary:
  • Organizes necessary audio equipment;
  • Attends dress rehearsal;
  • Liaises with clients to discuss technical requirements;
  • Sets up equipment and perform sound check prior to the start of the rehearsal and/or concert;
  • Operates the soundboard;
  • Monitors audio mix and sound quality during the concert/event and adjust accordingly;
  • Ensures equipment is in working order and reports issues;
  • Assists with studio or hall upkeep tasks.
Other qualifying skills and/or abilities:Must be a student currently enrolled in the Graduate Program of Sound Recording of the SSM or, with approval of Sound Recording Area Coordinator, be enrolled in the Qualifying Year of the Sound Recording program at the SSM. Must have full knowledge of the SSM venues (internal and external) and the associated audio and video equipment including digital audio workstation software. Knowledge of standard stereo microphone techniques; be client-focused, pro-active and professional. Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others (artists, faculty, external clients). Must be able to work under strict timelines.
