- Act as the main HR advisor for store managers, assistant store managers, and area managers in your assigned region.
- Provide expert guidance on employee relations issues, from coaching to conflict resolution
- Conduct workplace investigations and ensure compliance with employment law.
- Enforce progressive discipline, lead disciplinary meetings, and manage termination processes with professionalism.
- Ensure employee records are complete and accurate in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Partner with recruiters to coordinate hiring for mid-level management roles in stores.
- Support the recruitment and onboarding processes for new store associates by supporting interview process, conducting new hire orientation, ensure employees. are enrolled in our HRIS/store systems, and follow up with Payroll, Store Managers, and HR members to ensure employee onboarding is completed.
- Assist in the ongoing review, development and implementation of company policies, programs and initiatives including delivering training programs.
- Monitor workforce trends, assess store needs, and implement HR strategies that improve engagement and retention.
- Support with regional organization planning and staff development including creating and monitoring the progress of a development plan with area managers and HR Manager.
- Serve as the HRBP backup for Québec when needed, ensuring smooth operations across regions.
- Stay ahead of labor laws and HR best practices, ensuring UNIQLO remains compliant and competitive.
- Ensure company operates in accordance with all applicable legislation including Employment Standards Act, Human Rights Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, etc.
- Sit as a member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee and oversee meetings of the stores JHSC's.
- Provide a weekly HR report summarizing key activities and observations.
- Travel 4 days per week in Toronto GTA locations (if you are based in Toronto region).
- Travel 4 days per week in our stores located near Ottawa + a few stores in Quebec (if you are based in Ottawa region).
- Additional duties as required.
- University degree / Post secondary education in Human Resources or related field.
- HR Professional Designation is a strong asset.
- 3+ years of experience advising managers and leaders on employee relations.
- Experience with disciplinary actions, terminations, and workplace investigations is required.
- Strong understanding of employment law and HR compliance in Canada.
- Prior experience in retail HR is a strong asset.
- Ability to travel 3 days per week to visit stores and provide on-site HR support.
- French language proficiency considered an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work with global teams and people at all levels of the organization.
- Permanent work authorization in Canada (eligible to work for any employer).
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office tools and HRIS systems.
- Ability to operate with high level of integrity and confidentiality.
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
- The individual may be assigned to support other regions time-by-time upon to the business requirement and necessity.
