The Early Childhood Educator (ECE), as part of a team of ECEs and Child Care Assistants, is responsible for delivering impact-specific, age-appropriate programming to all the children in the program, using a current understanding of child development principles. The ECE assesses each child's needs and plans and provides programming that promotes positive social, physical, emotional and cognitive development. The ECE fosters a clean and safe environment that encourages healthy interaction and learning.QualificationsEducation
  • ECE II or ECE III Classification from the Manitoba Child Care Program
  • Current Infant/Child First Aid and CPR Certificate
Skills, Expertise, and Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with/caring for children in a childcare facility
  • Demonstrated understanding of child development theory and principles and ability to put that understanding into practice
  • Experience supervising and engaging children throughout the day, during transition, individual and group activities, and free and structured play
  • Ability to use a range of child development approaches, skills, and techniques to optimize each child's experience and opportunity to leave and develop
  • Experience taking active steps to identify and manage risks to ensure the safety of all children
  • Experience managing behavioral issues in accordance with established policies and practices
  • Experience documenting relevant information regarding children and families and recording program information in accordance with applicable standards and policies
