Project Engineer, Mechanical EngineeringToronto/Mississauga, OntarioToday is the day to boost your career! Pinchin is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Mechanical Engineering team in our Mississauga, Ontario Office.Our services include more than just engineering design — we help clients understand the financial, regulatory, and operational aspects of their projects.You will also be responsible for helping to grow the Mississauga Office with a potential for a leadership role in the future for the right candidate.You will have the full support and resources of the British Columbia based Mechanical team until the team has grown to a suitable size to allow you to report as a separate business unit of the Mechanical group.You will report to The National Practice Lead for Mechanical, Graeme Terris though clearly you will have local support from the Mississauga office in terms of day to day operations such as administrative support, meeting and desk space etc.Our current project work that you will be involved with includes:
  • Building mechanical HVAC and Plumbing designs for Pinchin’s broad portfolio of clients in Ontario, and across Canada.
  • Low carbon electrification projects which use heat pumps to recover waste heat and offset carbon-based heating.
  • Design of ambient temperature district energy sharing systems which use heat pumps and renewable energy like geoexchange and wastewater heat recovery to provide heating and cooling to communities.
  • Energy Audits, Specialist Reports and GHG reduction studies in existing buildings in the Toronto area, possibly extending into neighbouring provinces with the assistance of Energy modelers in British Columbiaand retrofit work which may come from such Audits
  • Assisting other groups in Pinchin with HVAC and plumbing advice as required
  • HVAC upgrade works.

A Day in the life of a Project Engineer at Pinchin:
  • Engineering design, reviews, and inspections for commercial, institutional, and residential facilities,
  • Monitor and report on the performance of existing systems
  • Prepare cost estimate and reports
  • Assist with proposal preparation and maintaining client relationships
  • Support ongoing improvement in our engineering practice through professional development and quality management
  • Conduct feasibility studies for renewable energy and district energy projects
  • Mentor junior staff and provide guidance on HVAC and plumbing design
  • Meet prospective clients and introduce them to Pinchin
What you bring to the Pinchin team:
  • A university degree in Mechanical Engineering and P.Eng. designation. LEED or CEM designations would also be an advantage
  • Experience conducting energy audits or evaluating energy efficiency measures for building mechanical systems .
  • 5 or more years of consulting engineering experience post PEng
  • Experience in building HVAC design, particularly retrofit projects and hydronic systems for heating and cooling in residential or commercial buildings
  • Experience in Plumbing and/or Fire protection would be an advantage
  • Good technical writing skills
  • Excellent English verbal communication, organizational and prioritizing skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and a basic knowledge of AutoCAD, IES, Trace software.
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Ability to travel to various client sites either locally or to adjacent Provinces
