Railcar Repairer performs all aspects of repair and maintenance in GATX's own railcars as well as foreign cars. This role doesn't require experience in Rail or related activities, GATX will be providing all necessary training to safely and successfully complete all essential tasks.GATX OFFER EXCELLENT BENEFITS:

  • Starting hourly wage for this position: between 24.26$ and 29.12$ plus $1.00 for the afternoon prime. A salary increase applies with the completion of working hours and also on an annual basis.
  • We also offer internship opportunities that can lead to full-time employment for students completing their study program in Welding, Industrial Mechanics, Heavy Equipment Mechanics and related activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Uses current GATX repair procedures to dismantle, repair, install and/or renew coil, valves and miscellaneous tank car fittings.
  • Undertake minor welding work on railcars (welding training will be provided as required).
  • Uses equipment such as chains, slings, hoists and forklifts to perform assigned tasks.
  • Keeps work area in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Able to work in confined spaces and in heights.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (including certifications):
  • At least a High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Welding experience acquired through formal training or prior work experience is a plus, but not required
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as repair manuals, instructions, work orders , ect...
  • Ability to work effectively individually and/or in groups
  • Initiative: Have a personal motivation and autonomy to determine and carry out important tasks
  • Diligence and reliability at work: be able to complete all hours of work, rarely absent and be able to complete all assigned tasks at a reasonable period of time
QUARTS DE TRAVAIL / WORK HOURSQuart de jour: Lundi au Vendredi, 6:00 – 14:30 / Morning Shift: Monday to Friday: 6:00AM - 2:30PM
