This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives on relationship-building, is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and eager to grow into a more senior development role over time.Working from the Toronto office, you will focus on developing new donors, manage an assigned portfolio of donors and prospects, and support multiple facets and phases of the organization's fundraising efforts. You will help deliver donor engagement and fundraising events, and ensure an excellent donor experience through strong stewardship, follow-through, and collaboration with the team.Key ResponsibilitiesDonor Development & Portfolio Management
- Identify, cultivate, and develop new donors, while managing an assigned portfolio of donors and prospects, with a strong focus on increased philanthropic commitment and long-term retention.
- Build and execute tailored relationship strategies for each donor, including outreach, meetings, solicitations, renewals, and next stewardship.
- Conduct research, develop briefings, talking points, and impact-focused materials.
- Deliver strong stewardship and donor care, including impact touchpoints, recognition, and thoughtful, timely acknowledgements.
- Support the CDO and CEO with solicitations, including preparing donor briefings, proposals, and next-step plans.
- Help grow the organization's donor engagement efforts through meaningful outreach, relationship-building, and mission-based storytelling.
- Represent the organization at community events and programs, strengthening visibility and connections across Toronto and beyond.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support donor and Board communications, updates, and engagement initiatives throughout the year.
- Plan and coordinate donor engagement opportunities, including small gatherings, boardroom presentations, briefings, and donor-hosted fundraising events of any scale.
- Support event hosts with guidance, logistics, timelines, materials, and donor follow-up plans.
- Track event performance, donor outcomes, and next steps to ensure events translate into new, increased and sustained philanthropic investments.
- Maintain accurate donor and prospect records in the Salesforce CRM, including call reports, meeting notes, proposals, and next actions.
- Track pledge fulfillment and coordinate receipting, recognition, and acknowledgements in collaboration with internal colleagues.
- Produce regular portfolio and pipeline reports, including activity, progress, and results against goals.
- Contribute to strengthening systems and processes that improve donor experience and fundraising effectiveness.
Job Requirement:You Are Likely a Fit If You Have
- 5-7 years of relevant experience in fundraising, donor relations, sales/business development, account management, or other relationship-based revenue roles.
- Relevant connections to help grow the organization's donor pipeline and the ability to bring in your own prospects.
- Demonstrated ability to build trust, manage multiple relationships, and move opportunities forward with professionalism and discretion.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; comfortable drafting donor emails, call notes, proposals, and briefing materials as well as speaking one-on-one and in group settings.
- Excellent time-management skills, ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, highly organized, detail-oriented, and reliable with follow-through; able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Experience preparing grant proposals, decks, or client-facing materials.
- Experience supporting nonprofit fundraising events or volunteer-led initiatives.
- Experience supporting events and/or volunteer-led initiatives is an asset.
- Comfort using a CRM and managing data quality; experience with Salesforce is an asset.
- Willingness to work from the Toronto office full-time, attend occasional evening/weekend events, and travel across Canada periodically for meetings and events.
- Measurable progress on new gifts, renewals, and increases.
- A well-managed portfolio with consistent meeting activity, strong relationships, and excellent follow-through.
