Position SummaryWorking under the supervision of the Manager (International Student Services) and the International Student Engagement Coordinator, the candidate will be responsible for supporting and facilitating the development of international and permanent resident students' academic skills with regard to English language speaking, reading, listening, and writing as it relates to University of Regina academic expectations.Duties for this position include:
  • Aid in the development of general English language skills, including listening, reading, writing, and speaking;
  • Supporting students' development of general comprehension skills in assignments, projects, readings, lectures, etc;
  • Guiding students understanding of academic integrity and potential consequences of non-compliance;
  • Support the growth of students' time management and organizational skills development;
  • Advise students on best practices for communicating with University faculty and staff, including booking appointments, office hours, and email communication;
  • Guide students in understanding how to access available support services on campus;
  • Assist with making referrals to additional support services as necessary, in consultation with applicable supervisors;
  • Aid in the preparation and delivery of group workshops and presentations that support students' understanding of academic expectations;
  • Provide support for potential research and other projects in collaboration with UR International.
Position Requirements
  • Major in English, Education, or History, is preferred.
  • Excellent inter-cultural communication skills;
  • Exemplary writing and presentation skills;
  • Ability to assess and clearly explain objectives and subject content;
  • Currently registered University of Regina senior undergraduate student or graduate student;
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills;
  • Experience and/or expertise in studying/living/working/volunteering abroad or in globally diverse communities is an asset;
  • Training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities will be available.

Pay Grade As Per CUPE 2419
Salary Range As per CUPE 2419 Collective Agreement
