From roadway to runway or full terminal design, we’ll take your career to new heights.Your OpportunityOur Markham office is currently seeking a Senior CADD Designer – (Aviation) to join our team, to provide drawing leadership on various aviation projects. The individual will be responsible for setting up and maintaining drawings for multi-disciplinary assignments supporting our Aviation teams.Your Key ResponsibilitiesParticipating in the design and preparation of engineering drawings and visual displaysLead the development of detailed 2D and 3D engineering drawings for aviation infrastructure projects, including civil grading, pavement design, airfield drainage, Airfield obstacle limitation surfaces (OLS) utilities, airfield lighting layouts, and terminal civil worksPerform 3D modelling, surface design, cross-section generation, quantity take-offs, and earthwork calculations using CivilEstablish and Prepare project-specific CADD and drawing standards and setup guidelines for multi-disciplinary projectsEstablish drawing delivery and interface requirements in consultation with clientsInterpret engineering concepts, sketches, and calculations into accurate design drawingsSetup, manage and maintain project collaboration software (E.g. ProjectWise, ACC, etc.)Communicate effectively in writing and speech with staff at all levels including outside consultantsAct as the primary CADD liaison on project teams, interfacing directly with project managers, engineers, environmental specialists, surveyors, sub-consultants & clientsInterface with clients and stakeholders regarding drawing standards and deliverablesSupport multidisciplinary coordination (civil, electrical, structural, airfield lighting)Collect and incorporate field survey data, geotechnical reports, and LiDAR/point cloud data into design modelsSupport field construction administration through RFI responses, site instructions, and as-built & record drawing compilationProvide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior CADD staffSupport onboarding of new CADD staff and knowledge transfer activitiesSupport team development in software, standards, and best practicesAct as a subject matter expert for CADD within the aviation groupProvide ongoing support and direction for project CADD personnelAuditing and enforcement of project CADD standardsEngineering calculationsEnsure compliance with standards (TP312, ICAO, provincial standards, client specific standards, etc.)Organizing and maintaining a design and CADD digital file database for each projectCreates and enforces CADD Standards on a project-by-project basisSupport proposal preparation (graphics, exhibits, technical input)Assist in developing project schedules and deliverablesContribute to continuous improvement of workflows and digital deliveryOther related duties as assignedAdvanced knowledge in AutoCAD Civil 3D is required. MicroStation/OpenRoads & AviPLAN knowledge would be an assetExcellent communication skills (verbal and written) as well as good relationship building skills with respect to your interactions with team members, clients and contractorsStrong understanding of airfield geometry and grading as well as, drainage and utility designFamiliar with relevant Standards and detailsProficiency in MS Office Suite including Word and Excel is requiredEffective organizational and time management skills in handling multiple projects, performing a variety of tasks, and meeting required deadlines while working independentlyAbility to manage multiple projects and deadlinesMentoring, coaching and training staffAbility to provide direction and guidance to othersA strong work ethic with the desire to excel and to achieveHigh attention to detail and qualityProblem-solving and proactive thinkingA self-starter who can work unsupervisedExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsExperience with GIS platforms (ArcGIS, QGIS) for site analysis and base mappingEducation and ExperienceDiploma from a well-organized institution in a related fieldMinimum 10 years of CADD drafting/design experience in an engineering consulting environmentMinimum 3years of direct experience on aviation or airfield infrastructure projects (runways, taxiways, aprons, terminals, airside civil works)Experience working on Ontario-based projects and standardsMember with The Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technologists and Technicians (OACETT)Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.   • Locations in Lower Mainland - BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario-$86,900.00 - $126,000.00 Annually
