- Lead in-house engineering design of temporary works and construction methods.
- Manage external consultants for temporary works, value engineering, and design-build scopes.
- Oversee planning and reporting of technical activities internally and externally.
- Ensure engineering practices align with VanPile's Health, Safety, and Engineering policies.
- Provide functional leadership to Project Engineers, Technologists, Surveyors, and EITs.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Build strong relationships with clients, partners, subcontractors, and consultants.
- Mentor junior staff and support VanPile's EIT and employee development programs.
- 10+ years of experience in project controls on major construction projects, including civil/structural engineering with a focus on temporary works and engineered erection schemes
- Proven success with various contract types (e.g., Lump Sum, T&M)
- Strong background in marine and heavy civil construction
- Experience in design-build and alternative delivery contracts
- Familiarity with EGBC's Organizational Quality Management Program and/or ISO 9001
- Experience with claims and substantiating cost/schedule impacts
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, Accounting, or a related field (Master's preferred)
- Eligible for P.Eng. licensing with EGBC (licensing in other provinces is an asset)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience working in BIM environments is a plus
- Strong understanding of scope, cost, schedule, change, and risk management
- Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills
- High level of initiative, sound judgment, and a collaborative mindset
- Passion for building a differentiated in-house engineering capability
- Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written)
- Competitive salary range: $140,000 - $180,000
