Our client in the marine and aviation industry is seeking a Deputy Project Manager to join their team based out Victoria, BC. Location: Richmond, BC
Pay Range: $88k to $115k base salary, plus performance based bonusWhat's the Job?
  • Supervise 2-4 direct reports and oversee project activities involving up to 200 indirect personnel, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines.
  • Lead the full lifecycle of project activities-from planning and execution to close-out-while maintaining quality, safety, and performance standards.
  • Manage project scope and deliverables, and implement structured change control processes to ensure successful delivery of assigned activities.
  • Collaborate in developing and executing comprehensive project management plans, integrating timelines, resources, and stakeholder inputs.
  • Monitor project budgets and control costs through active engagement with functional teams and financial stakeholders.
  • Build and manage detailed project schedules, defining key milestones and cardinal dates to drive timely execution.
  • Track project progress using performance management tools, and report status updates to stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
  • Facilitate collaboration among internal teams, external service providers, and subcontractors to meet project commitments and resolve issues.
  • Identify and mitigate risks proactively, while developing recovery plans and leveraging opportunities to optimize project outcomes.
  • Integrate Production, Engineering, Commissioning, Planning, and Quality teams for seamless system handover, and lead performance improvement initiatives across departments.
What's Needed?
  • Must have post-secondary education in Engineering or Project Management, or combination of related education and experience.
  • PMI or PMP certification is an asset.
  • A minimum of at least 6-8 years of experience supporting large, dynamic projects-preferably in the marine industry-with a strong understanding of complex project environments.
  • Hands-on experience using Earned Value Management (EVM) in real-time to monitor performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Prior experience with Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project is an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in diverse, multi-stakeholder environments, with a proven track record of guiding teams and delivering results.
  • Strong customer-facing and communication skills, with the ability to represent the project professionally and take on additional responsibilities when needed.
  • Experience in generating clear, concise reports tailored to different organizational levels, with an understanding of what information is relevant for each audience.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills, with a meticulous and proactive approach to project execution.
  • Solid working knowledge of ERP systems, QA/QC processes, project controls, planning, scheduling, and risk management.
  • Must be eligible for Canadian Secret Security Clearance and compliant with ITAR requirements.
