Why is this role important?The Senior Consultant provides leadership in the development and execution of priority initiatives for the division leadership. They play a key role in advancing CIHI's strategic plan by supporting senior management decision-making, managing committee work and strategic projects, and building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.The Senior Consultant is responsible and accountable for providing vision and leadership in the development and delivery of the Data Stewardship learning program and other resources and tools to support the adoption and use of the Data Stewardship Framework. As a member of the Data Stewardship Initiative management team, the Senior Consultant also provides leadership and expertise to support the overall execution of the initiative.What you'll do1. Provide strategic planning and day-to-day management for assigned portfolio(s), ensuring alignment with assigned budget, branch objectives, and corporate priorities.
2. Provide advice to support senior management decision-making related to divisional strategic initiatives and, if required, within CIHI more broadly. Conduct background research on emerging issues and develop briefing materials, as required.
3. Develop formal strategies and plans for emerging and priority areas, internal to the division and within CIHI more broadly.
4. Manage key initiatives for the division, employing project management processes and tools as required to support the exploration and assessment of strategic initiatives, develop business cases, and support innovation within the division.
5. Promote the organization, its mandate, products and services through active participation on committees, presentations, attendance at conferences, and provide secretariat support to internal/external committees as needed.
6. Establish and maintain relevant professional contacts on behalf of CIHI at the national, provincial and regional levels, and liaise with stakeholders in support of identified projects.
7. Build and strengthen a network of internal and external relationships to ensure collaboration, open communication and trust.
8. Develop and monitor divisional and/or departmental operational plans and budgets, ensuring smooth operations including corporate reporting requirements.What you'll bring to the table
  • Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Public Policy, Health Information Sciences or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience.
  • Experience managing complex project(s) in a matrix environment, with a high level of accountability for their completion.
  • Extensive knowledge of CIHI's business, and the businesses of its key stakeholders (e.g. policy makers, health system managers, governments).
  • Innovative and strategic thinker with willingness to learn and apply new or creative solutions to problems or initiatives.
  • Ability to develop trusted relationships at all levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; effective knowledge translation, including preparing briefing notes and discussion papers, and delivering presentations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills.
  • Experience working in the field of health information, analysis and research is an asset.

  • Primary locations: Toronto or Ottawa.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

  • Fluency in English is required, bilingualism in both official languages is an asset.
