- Support overall project initiatives (RFP/bid stages) and systems delivery on both greenfield and brownfield projects.
- Deliver system engineering and integration activities in accordance with ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288 and CENELEC EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129, EN 50159
- Develop and implement systems engineering processes to manage project life cycles including systems engineering, requirements management, and interface and integration management plans.
- Analyze the design and interface points for various Systems such as: Communication Systems including communication/data networks, fiber optics distribution infrastructure, radio systems and DAS, building structured cabling, SCADA systems, passenger information systems, CCTV, telephony, security and access control systems, and station PA systems; Power Supply and Distribution Systems including traction power and substation equipment; Guideway Intrusion systems; Tunnel Ventilation systems; Power Rail/LIM Rail; Trackwork; Station design elements including fire life safety and other electrical and mechanical systems/components.
- Interface and coordinate designs with various design disciplines including civil, mechanical, electrical as well as external stakeholders (architects, code consultants, vendors/suppliers).
- Develop system architectures using model-based system engineering (MBSE) tools and track/manage interfaces through registers and issues logs.
- Support development and review of specialty engineering deliverables such as EMC, Cybersecurity, Software Quality, and Human Factors.
- Develop design guideline manuals and technical/performance output specifications.
- Support construction and installation activities including responding to RFIs, develop/review site instructions, change orders and claims for progress payments.
- Support testing and commissioning (T&C) activities including development and review of T&C procedures, developing T&C schedule, and performing field inspections and witnessing T&C tests as needed to ensure compliance with design.
- Engineering Degree from an accredited institution. An advanced degree may be preferred at this level. Incumbents typically have a BS/MS degree in engineering, technical, or scientific discipline.
- 8+ years of related professional experience in railway projects
- Registered (or eligible to register) as a P.Eng. in BC
- Experience using MBSE tools such as Sparx Enterprise Architect or equivalent to develop architecture diagrams
- INCOSE ASEP/CSEP certification an asset
- Functional Safety certification and/or experience with CENELEC standards (EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129, EN 50159) an asset
