The Driver interacts with Parents, Teachers, and other School Board personnel.Duties and Responsibilities:Pick up passengers at pre-determined locations * Exhibits the highest ethical best practices and personal integrity; Shares concerns about suspicious or inappropriate behavior with their supervisor or managerReport to work on time and operate route in a safe mannerConduct pre-trip inspections daily, using Company tools and swipe technologyPractice defensive driving at all times, and proactively avoid accidents by practicing safe driving and work habitsLift and close bus doors daily, and assist passengers who are boarding and exiting the busEvacuate bus in emergency situations and physically assist passengers to evacuateRefill fuel and washer fluid in assigned vehicle when necessary, before picking up passengersManage student behaviour by exercising communication and discipline as per Company policies, and report student discipline issues to the school and to the Company immediatelyReport all accidents, incidents, and major or minor defects, to office immediatelyComplete all required paperwork, including route change sheets, time cards, vehicle repair requests, in a timely mannerDeliver vehicle to office for repairs, preventative maintenance inspections, and repairsContact parents of passengers if instructed to by the CompanyAttend all Company Safety MeetingsAdhere to Company standards in the operation of Company vehicles and customer serviceFollow all Company policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, as well as local Customer Service Center work directions and instructionsPerform other tasks as assigned by the CompanyRequirementsMust be at least 21 years of ageMust hold valid provincial driver’s license and possess good driving history (no more than 3 demerit points accumulated and no speeding tickets over 24km/hr)Must have at least 2 years of driving history in CanadaMust successfully complete the Company provided training program required by the provinceAbility to obtain the provincial driver’s license required to operate a school busMust successfully complete a criminal background check and Vulnerable Sector Screen (VSS)Must successfully complete medical test as per the province’s requirementsA First-Aid Certificate may be required depending on the school boardMust be available to work a split shift (both morning and afternoon shifts) on a daily basis from Monday to FridayMust possess tact and diplomacy in dealing with students, parents, and school district/board personnelMust be committed, dependable and reliableBenefitsCompany provides training required to obtain the required provincial driver’s license to operate a school busOpportunities to earn additional income on chartered routes or summer campsEmployee Referral Bonus – Earn an additional $250 if someone you refer is hired as a DriverB.Y.K.O.B – Bring Your Kids On BoardCompany provides personal protective equipment (i.e. Safety Vest)Ongoing training & development (i.e. Health & Safety, Defensive Driving, etc.)Incentives for good attendance and safety recordsAccess to group rates and discountsNo Evening or Weekend shiftsOnly work on school days – Enjoy the days off on P.A.
