Link to Full Job DescriptionAdditional information for applicantsCurrently, this Bachelor or Masters degree social work position is located at the Royal Jubilee hospital 2 shifts per week on the Oncology Unit and as 43shifts per week on the Surgical and Wound care unit. Clients admitted to these units may be undergoing cancer treatments or having surgical intervention which may impact their lives both physically and psychologically . Services include short -term counselling related to grief and loss, adjustment to diagnosis and change of health status, support to accessing resources such as housing applications, financial applications and/or other resource location. Advance care planning regarding financial management, health care decisions and initial goals of care is part of the social work role. Social Workers work in team-based care and are involved in complex discharge planning with clients and their families to be able to return to their home community. Previous experience in acute care will be an asset. All social workers are Designated Responders under the Adult Guardianship Act and must investigate, assess and intervene in all allegations of adult abuse, neglect and self-neglect. Social workers work collaboratively with the Ministry of Children and Families regarding child protection issues. All social workers in hospital are Designated Responders under the Adult Guardianship Act and must investigate, assess and intervene in all matters related to adult abuse, neglect and self-neglect. Social Workers work collaboratively with the Ministry of Children and Families in matters pertaining to child protection. This position requires current and active registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers.
